CANADA - Montreal

🚔🔥When a simple dinner turned into ... ! 🍁

While Mamabear was still trying to explain to the little bears what a rare and special opportunity their cockpit adventure had been, Montreal decided to make quite the opposite impression within the first 12 hours! 😂

After 7 hours of flying, heavy rain and a wonderfully humid 33°C, Mamabear decided to take the easy way out after settling into the new apartment: McD. for dinner. 🍔 Easy. Unspectacular. Right?

Well... think again! 😳

Suddenly, the police arrived to deal with a robbery—SUVs, full gear, the whole intimidating package. 🚔👮‍♂️ Except... the little Panda Bears weren't intimidated at all! 😂

While Mamabear turned her back for  two minutes to get drink refills, the bears seized their opportunity and started chatting up the police officers. What on earth?! 🤦‍♀️

And the officers were absolutely lovely, patiently answering question after question. Then, as if the evening wasn't exciting enough, an enormous American-sized fire engine 🚒 arrived, and suddenly the firefighters joined the conversation too!

"Okay, enough excitement now," thought Mamabear.

Apparently not.

The little bears and the police officers exchanged cards, and both departments invited them for a private behind-the-scenes tour. 👮‍♂️🚒

And guess where the panda family went on Day 2? 😏

The fire station (police kept for the week after)where every single question was patiently answered. And believe me, Finnibear and Nicobear had plenty of questions! 🤓🐼

They kept the firefighters busy for so long that eventually... the alarm bell saved them! 🚨 The firefighters were called away on a mission, giving everyone a very good reason to finally end the panda interrogation. 😂🔥

🌳 Week 1: Calmer Week... Well, Sort Of

After such an exciting arrival, the rest of the first week was thankfully a little calmer. The little Panda Bears enjoyed beautiful weather, endless green parks, enormous playgrounds and, of course, lots of new friends. 🛝🌳

It turned out that the parks were packed with summer camps, which at first made Mamabear think she should sign the bears up for one. But she soon realised that wasn't necessary at all! The little bears simply joined in on their own, and both the children and camp monitors happily welcomed them into the games. 🐼⚽

Before long, they were playing frisbee, soccer, football and all sorts of other games with their new friends. And while the bears may have missed a little academic homeschooling that week, skills in leadership, organisation, socialising, teamwork and motivational speeches were certainly not lacking!

The older panda happily organised an entire dam-building project, with the kids eagerly accepting him as their leader. They reported every problem to him and asked for his guidance on how to solve it. 😄

Meanwhile, the younger panda was busy showing off his impressive engineering skills, finding creative ways to build, organise and solve whatever came his way. 🔧

On a few other days the bears enjoyed the community outdoor pool and watching the training of the local icehockey team.🏒🏒

🚌 When a hurt Foot Led to a Cookie Café! 🍪

But it wasn't all playing! After the younger panda hurt his foot, the little bears hopped on a bus the next day with absolutely no plan other than to see where it would take them. 🚌

And what a great idea that turned out to be! At the end of the bus line, they discovered a wonderfully funky neighbourhood, filled with colourful street art and creative vibes. 🎨

Mamabear happily explored the amazing art-covered walls, while the little bears headed straight for what turned out to be the real highlight of the day: a DIY cookie and cat café! 🍪🐱

To be fair, the four resident cats were doing what cats do best—sleeping. 😴 They managed to hold the bears' attention for roughly five minutes.

So the final verdict was unanimous: Cookie Café 1 – Cat Café 0! 😂🍪

However, at the end one discovery stole the show. A cyber truck. While Mamabear thought this was made up word by the bears, she soon found out about the real truth behind the discovery.

🎨 Montreal, Ice Cream & One Very Confused Mamabear 🍦

The next day, the little Panda Bears finally explored Montreal itself! 

After a beautiful walk and a lively beach party, Mamabear treated them to yet another ice cream—honestly, Montreal seems to have turned ice cream into a first-class art form! 🍦🤩and an interactive show about animal evolution meets art meets  storytelling meets orchestra. 🎭🎶🦋

The little bears were absolutely fascinated and had a blast. Mamabear, on the other hand... well, she enjoyed it, but wasn't entirely sure what was actually happening. 😅 Perhaps she's simply too old... or maybe just not artsy enough!

After 75 minutes, the little bears had to sit Mamabear down and explain the entire storyline to her. 😂 And suddenly... everything made sense!

Who said the children couldn't teach the adults a thing or two? 📚❤️

🌿 The Botanical Garden Surprise 🌺

The next day, it was finally time to make use of the museum pass! 🎟️

The first stop was the Botanical Garden, which Mamabear secretly thought would be the most boring choice for the little bears to start with—even though she was rather excited about it. 😏🌿

Little did she know!

Both little Panda Bears, yes, both of them, were absolutely fascinated by the greenhouses from all different climate zones and the huge outdoor gardens. 🌴🌵🌺 They explored, discovered and asked questions for hours.

After three hours, it wasn't boredom that finally convinced them to leave—it was heavy rain! 🌧️

By then, Mamabear was once again completely exhausted. And she had genuinely thought the Botanical Garden would be a quick little visit...

Another excellent reminder that when travelling with the little pandas, MamaBear's estimated schedules are best treated as fiction. 😂

📚 Friends, Friends Everywhere! 🐼💚

The week ended with another relaxing day at the park 🌳🛝, followed by what Mamabear thought would be a quick visit to the local library.

Two and a half hours later... 😂📚

The little bears had made so many new friends that the only thing convincing them that it might be time for dinner was arranging playdates for the following week! 🐼🤝🐼

Apparently, in Montreal, even a trip to the library can turn into a full afternoon of friendship and fun. ❤️

🐼 A Quiet Week? Not Quite! 🌎

So, after one week, the verdict is in: even without a busy schedule or a packed itinerary, travelling with two little pandas is still a high-level activity! 😂

Mamabear is therefore more than happy that, in the evenings, the little bears love relaxing in front of the sports channel. 📺🤓

They've been discovering ice hockey, baseball, curling and even synchronised martial arts competitions. 🏒⚾🥌🥋

 NO idea that synchronised martial arts was even a thing! 😂

At least the evening comes with a little downtime... while the pandas continue to educate themselves about the wonderfully random world of sport. 🌎

🌎 Another Week, Another World of Discoveries! 🐼✨

The second week was packed with adventures, from the Planetarium, Science Museum, Biodome and Biosphere to a whole collection of unplanned adventures—because the little bears proved once again that the best experiences aren't always on the schedule! 🌌🔬

🚀 Houston, We Have Two Little Panda Astronauts!

The Planetarium may have been small, but it was seriously impressive. The bears got to see and even touch real meteorites before embarking on a Mars mission, completing challenges under serious time pressure and trying to save their team's lives. ☄️🚀

After all that excitement, Nicobear decided a long nap was in order, while Finnibear continued exploring constellations, Polaris, the Perseids and interstellar travel. And back saving Mars. Apparently , one Mars mission was nowhere near enough! 😴🌟

🔬 Seven Hours of Science... and Still Not Enough!

The Science Museum turned into a full seven-hour adventure. There was simply so much to touch, try and discover that the bears only left when the museum announced it was closing! 😂

With hands-on experiments, interactive challenges and playful learning everywhere, it was exactly the kind of museum made for curious little minds. 🧪🐼

🐻‍❄️ From Canadian Wildlife to Planet Earth

At the Biodome and Biosphere, the bears explored Canada's wildlife across different climate zones and learned about the impact humans have on our planet. 🌎🌿

The only slightly less successful part was the IMAX film about wildlife in Asia, which proved a little scary for the youngest panda. 😳 So for now, The Odyssey can probably wait! 😂

🚔 The Police Station Adventure

The little bears had been asking to cash in their second invitation for a behind the scene tour (police station) practically since they met their new police friends. 👮‍♂️🐼 And since no photos were allowed but one for security reason,  Mamabear now has to rely on her memory to recall all the amazing moments!

The bears learned how officers check, secure and use tasers, tried on almost the full police gear, explored the officers' daily work and then headed for the police cars. They got to sit in the front, use the siren and loudspeaker. Surely the neighbourhood was as excited about the noise as the little bears making them.

 And they even experienced the back seat from an "arrested person's" perspective. 🚔📢😂 Well Finnibear happily tested the back seat.  Nicobear made his position very clear: the only acceptable seat for him was the driver's! 🐼

The officers patiently answered their endless questions, even commenting on how remarkably thoughtful they were. If you are wondering, coincidentally it were indeed the same officers we met the week before.

And while travelling with little bears can certainly be exhausting, these moments were the ones that made Mamabear's heart burst with pride. ❤️

She only realised later just how much Nicobear had actually absorbed when he recreated the entire police car in LEGO—in incredible detail.

And, of course, both bears left with their very own police badges! 🏅🐼

🤿 One Very Determined Panda

Along those adventures, every day, the bears passed the Olympic Sports Centre, and Finnibear patiently checked whether the divers were training in this impressive setting. Eventually, his persistence paid off!

They spent two hours watching the divers, from the 1-metre board all the way up to the impressive 10-metre platform, while Finnibear absorbed every technical detail he could. 🤓🤿

🏎️ Pandas at the Formula 1 Track

And then came another completely unplanned adventure, but bears dream come true: a visit to the famous Gilles Villeneuve Formula 1 track! 🏎️🐼

For two little pandas fascinated by anything that Verstappen and Hamilton might have touched or stand on,  this was naturally a very exciting stop. The bears got to see the legendary circuit up close and experience another piece of Montreal's sporting history.

At this point, Mamabear was beginning to realise that the word "quiet" simply doesn't belong in a panda travel itinerary. 😂

🍁 The Final Week: Slow Down, Soak It In & Say Goodbye 🐼💙

The last week in Montreal had finally arrived—and, after weeks packed with adventures, it was by far the most relaxed. 😌

The little panda bears visited just one museum, where they travelled through the history of Montreal, from its early beginnings and settlement plus a extraordinary exposition of the War of Troy. 🏛️⚔️

The part that fascinated them most was the story of Canada's early settlers, brought to life through speaking paintings and an interactive 3D character who actually answered all their questions! For a moment, it felt like being inside the movie Night at the Museum. 😄✨ That's how you make history come alive!

Apart from that, the panda family simply enjoyed a quiet week—playing in the parks, cooling off in the outdoor pool, and, most importantly, spending time with the new friends they had made along the way. 🌳🏊‍♂️🐼❤️

And then came the hardest part: saying goodbye. 🥹 But thankfully, living in the digital age makes staying in touch much easier—and after falling a little bit in love with Montreal, the panda family is pretty sure this isn't goodbye forever.

Montreal, you won us over. 🍁❤️ We'll definitely be back to discover more of charming Quebec, explore more of Montreal, and, most importantly, see our friends again.
